Getting Ready -- Promotion Day is Near

Well...I'm getting close. I've completed much and yet there's more that I can do. I've tried using columns on the Home page and on the Bio/Gear page but unfortunately the bit of code I was using did not make the columns appear correctly in Windows Explorer. The code worked fine in Safari and Firefox. I intend to research it further. The columns look very good. I am also working on changing the masthead so that I can include a few graphics.

I've added more files to the Jazz Improv page. I will add more detailed info on each of these downloads later. Many are self explanatory but since I developed many of these for teaching, I should probably provide some explanation of what students can glean from these hand-outs.

I keep catching little errors around the site and will continue to correct as many as I can before I begin site promotion.

Part of this promotion includes updating my info on the
Trombone Page of the World and Trombonesonline.com, however, they deleted my entry. So...I figured I just need to update my entry and started looking for a form. But wait, there is no form on the Trombone Page of the World site. Hmm...it took awhile to figure this out but it does seem that the two sites are linked by a common database. So, I found the online form on Trombonesonline.com and resubmitted my info. For those who are interested, you can find that form here. Now all I have to do is wait and see if they think I'm a professional or not.

I've also updated/developed a plan for my site. Putting together lists helps me prioritize and focus. So here's what's next as I continue getting the site ready for promotion.

Ed's Website To Do List

Post New Article on Blog - (You're reading it. But of course this will be ongoing)
Get columns to work - try HTML (look on
Rapidweaver site for info)
Work on blog snippet
Work on Site Map tool - done

Add Video - need to contact a good friend who has video of me, the AJO and the NMJW Honor Jazz Band performing. For now you can view two videos on the New Mexico Jazz Workshop site at:
http://www.nmjazz.org/page3/page21/page21.html. Prettylegs.mov features me, Kent Erickson (trumpet) and Lee Taylor (tenor sax) on improvised solos.

MP3s - I have several cuts I can include. Need to research html for including audio on the site.
Figure out how to add slide or bell graphic to the main header
  • View video (done-not much help)
  • Learn to use CSS Edit 29.95 (yes-buy?)
  • Read SDK PDF first (This was a good first step-tried tutorial)
  • Textmate (no)
  • w3school.com is a great resource (I need to check-out)
Error check
Review snippets - develop implementation list
Begin site promotion
Clean up and add free big band warm-ups and charts
  • Rhythm Changes
  • Bag's New Groove
  • Cantalope Island
Scan and add three published articles
  • Favorite recordings
  • Jiggs
  • New Improv Tools
Scan and add Bill Watrous and me photo
Establish Paypal account and implement w/Pay Loom

That's it for now. I've also got to practice. All website work and no practice, does not a fine trombonist make.
